This anniversary album consists of 12 tracks, one for each year Lost Shadow has been active, plus one additional sum-up track.

The goal of the album has been to remake the songs so that they sound more modern, and offers something new even for the long time Lost Shadow listener. The focus on the album is highly electronic, capturing the major part of Lost Shadow’s career. The degree of changes made to the original tracks varies, but you who are used to specific versions of Lost Shadow songs are in for some surprises…

The album features collaborations with Love Rönnelid, Janne Bengtsson, Cinna Gärdenfors and Anders Bengtsson. The first single released from Age and Time was The Man Without A Shadow. The whole album is available for download at: http://www.last.fm/music/Lost+Shadow/Age+and+Time

The album consists of twelve songs in a very small and minimalist mood.

In December 2006, when I had just finished the Intuition and Decision album, I visited a store that sold tea, spices and other such things. The atmosphere was extremely cosy and nice, and I started thinking about making an album deeply connected to spices. At the same time I had just decided not to work with acoustic instruments again for a long time. So the idea was sort of put on ice. But in the Autumn of 2007, when the electronic Truths and Consequences album had been released, I once again revived this idea, skipping the spices connection, but keeping the closeness and cosiness of the spices store.

Through the Spring I had been fascinated with Emiliana Torrini’s work on Fisherman’s Woman, and I thought that making an album in the same mood as hers would be the goal of my project. So I went back to the guitars, and stated for myself to only use one main instrument, and occasionally an instrumental overdub, on each song. I almost stayed to this rule, making this album my most minimalist this far, if you choose to look at minimalism that way.

Remixers include the Trance Line Project, Aragorn, Rhythm Sisters, House Mouse, The Croy Brothers, Rhythm Sisters and Johnny Macabre, as well as Lost Shadow himself.

It is, as the first single Rumours hinted, a heavily electronic based album, quite in the Pet Shop Boys’ style, but it is also inspired by Stuart Price’s Madonna productions, Robert Miles, Robbie Williams, Air and Everything But The Girl. People familiar with the Lost Shadow sound won’t be disappointed, since this is an album with hit after hit, stacked on top of each other.

In some way Truths and Consequences is Lost Shadow’s break from guitars and tea drinking, a holiday trip back to the roots of his music. Comparision to Earth Is Dead – New World Rising and One wouldn’t be out of context, though this is much more through-worked and mature.

The album is a quite acoustic album and was under production from the Spring 2005 until Autumn 2006. It is heavily inspired by Damien Rice, Leonard Cohen, Tori Amos and other songwriters in that genre. Lost Shadow has worked with guitarist Anders Bengtsson, who has assisted Lost Shadow on serveral other records, and Hanna Åkerblom who plays the oboe on two tracks.

Three singles were released from the album, “Halfway Between Tori and Beth” (released 2006 09 26), “Prison Cell” (2006 11 05) and “Leave” (2007 02 21). The cover art (seen on the right) was made by Oskar Blomberg.

It also contains the two Trance Line Project remixes of Single-Minded.

Lost Shadow has made the remixes of Orange Lights, Take Me and I’m The Ocean, and collaborated with Aragorn on the Coming From Behind remix. The other remixes are made by Trance Line Project, House Mouse, Martin Shaw, DJ Myth’m, X-Fer, THEME-X and Mosaic.

It’s a highly variated remix album with many styles, influences and alternative views on the songs of 2005.

It also contains the new song “Single-Minded”, which was recorded especially for this collection. All songs are remastered in Autumn 2005. The following text is taken from the album sleeve notes:

I came up with the idea of making a singles collection when I was finishing One in Spring 2004. I wanted to put something together that shown the evolution of my songs and what changes in styles, mood and subjects I had done. Shortly after I got the idea of making a b-sides collection, which I wanted to name Besides. So, I had to come up with a good witty name for the a-side collection too. I wanted a short title that had the word “single” in it. Obviously the first thought was “Single”, but I thought it was too simple and additionally I had a girlfriend at the time, so it didn’t feel accurate either.

Then I went through my dictionary and found the word “Single-minded”. Not entirely satisfied I stopped looking anyway and thought that there was still time to think about it. Then when I got the idea for the song Single-Minded I decided to go with that title for the singles collection too.
