The Boy From Elsewhere
(Johan Bengtsson)
He was an unknown stranger
Wearing a poor man’s robes
He was really a strange man
But had a heart of gold
All the love that he had
He was giving it away
Cared about everyone
Some thought that he was gay
The boy from elsewhere
He took a job at an office
And worked as hard he could
He lived in a basement
Like no one really should
One morning he was light
And after a while
He got fired from the office
But on his lips there were a smile
The boy from elsewhere
Then he left his home in UK
And went over the water
To the land of broken promises
And constant warfare
He proclaimed on New York’s street
Where everyone could see
‘War is stupid’ he said
Then he saw it on TV
The boy from elsewhere
And in the video store
The movies were so violent
Games and toys were just the same
So he remained silent
And in Jerusalem he saw
That Jews were bringing death
And in the name of God
Treating Muslims like their serfs
The boy from elsewhere
‘Will you believe in me?
Trust in me?
Treat me as you did
Years before…’
He asked
‘Let us all be friends
And share everything
Let there be no more competing
Let the bells of freedom ring’
He spread it with conviction
And when the devil heard it
He labled him as a communist
‘Cause that’s the US verdict
The boy from elsewhere
He was put into a prison
Without any trial
When they threw him in there
He said ‘There’s no denial’
He starved himself to death
That was his only crime
And that is all about
How he died on the Cross of time
The boy from elsewhere
