New single: The Next Step

Today, the new Lost Shadow single The Next Step has been officially released on iTunes, TuneTribe, Emusic, Amazon. It will soon also arrive to 7digital, Spotify and Bandcamp. The single is released as a digital-only and features fabulous remixes by !PAUS3, DJ Seitz and nYnK, as well as the b-side The Simplicity of Nothing. We personally think that this is one of the hottest tracks of the year, and complemented by three very different remixes and a contrastingly sweet b-side this is a release you shouldn’t miss. Remix contest winner

We have spent the last week going through the collection of entries we received for the remix contest, and we are now very happy and proud to announce that we have selected a winner. In the end, it became a very tough race between our two personal favorites, Oraku and The Argyle Raver. Complicating the matter further, after we selected Oraku’s remix of the track The last song we will sing for the digital single officially released today, Oraku provided us with a stunning remix of The last love affair, which we also just love. This should be compared to the Argyle Raver’s remix of Returning to the Crystal Garden, which grows fabulously in its extended version. All in all, this became an extremely tough choice.

However, we needed to pick a winner, and we have settled with naming Oraku as the winner of the grand prize of the remix contest, for his work on The last love affair, which can be heard on Oraku’s Soundcloud page. Congratulations to Oraku, great work!

This track was, however, not finished in time to be selected for the Lost Shadow single released today. Instead, Oraku’s remix of The last song we will sing will be the leading track of the single, with The Argyle Raver’s short version of Crystal Garden as a b-side.

Finally, we have selected a number of remixes that will be included on the upcoming Lost Shadow remix album. These are (in no particular order):

Most entries we have received have been of very high quality, and it wasn’t easy to only select a few for the album. Remix deadlines tomorrow

Remember that tomorrow is the last day to submit your remix to us if you want to be included on the promotional single. Send your creation to: phonocratic (at sign) gmail (dot) com
We prefer that you send you file via some kind of sharing service, in as high quality as possible (maximum quality should be CD-quality: 44.1 kHz, Stereo, 16 bit). Any normally used format is okay, but AIFF, WAV, or FLAC is preferred. If you send the file attached to an e-mail, be sure to compress the file to be no larger than 10 MB, and we will get back to you so we can agree on how to send an uncompressed version of the remix. In your mail, please state how you want to be credited in the liner notes, your complete name and artist name, the complete name of the remix, and whether you’d like to be considered for being selected for the promotional single. The deadline to be part of the remix album is still the 15th of August. Good luck!

Lost Shadow Remixes

!PAUS3 has released a new single, called Flame, which is now available from iTunes. It contains two remixes by Lost Shadow, one of Flame and one of the b-side Terror. We think most Lost Shadow listeners will find them interesting, and encourage everyone to download them, and to listen to the original album “You Can Doesn’t Equal You Should” at Soundcloud. The album can be bought from iTunes, as well as from the Project Nothing Store. Lost Shadow has an ongoing project with !PAUS3, and these to remixes gives a hint to the sound of that forthcoming release. Stay tuned!

The Wheels EP released

With pleasure we today announce that the Wheels EP is finally released. The observant Lost Shadow fan has already spotted it on iTunes, but it is today available from all the usual Phonocratic Records stores (links below). The EP consists of seven tracks, of which three are new mixes, two have previously appeared on the two versions of Quandaries and Panaceas, and two are completely new songs (Venom and Zwischenzug). We really enjoy this release, and hope that it will inspire you to even more creative entries in the ongoing remix contest.

On a side note, the labelling of the mixes have been slightly screwed up due to a communication error. We cannot change the labelling anymore, so you’ll have to live with the notions of “Short version” on Venom and One man a guitar. There are, however, no long versions recorded of these songs.

Studio update

Time to break the long silence… I spent last Friday in the studio, which was the longest continuous time I have spent in the studio in months. And productivity was all over! A new EP has been recorded, which will soon see the light of day. More details to follow during next week. Stay tuned!

As those who have bought the single have already discovered, there is a music video for the song There, which we have today posted on YouTube. The video is rather simple, but is something I wanted to create as it emphasises the song’s meaning. Hope you’ll like it!

The second Lost Shadow single taken from the forthcoming album Quandaries and Panaceas has been released today. The song is called There and is a ballad about not forgetting the good times in life. It has been described as a “chill” song, and I can only agree.

The single features the radio mix of the song, as well as a handsup radio mix by Shane Wittig. As a b-side, a club remix of the song The turning point, also taken from Quandaries and Panaceas is included. In addition, there are remixes by The Argyle Raver and Aragorn featured on the single, which can be downloaded from Bandcamp. To have a listen to the single, use the player below.

My personal feeling is that this song very much complements the previous single (The problem with democracy) in describing the sound of Quandaries and Panaceas, which is aimed for a late October release. I would like to thank the remixers who have done a terrific work on this track!
